How do DArTT's Tuition Prices Compare?

University courses are not the same as a career-based training institution such as DArTT. Universities prepare you for academia and theory, taking years to complete, while DArTT prepares you for practical real-world job experience in months, not years. Keep in mind that many of our programs are simply not available at a traditional university.

However, we've done our best to demonstrate the monetary benefits of an online education with DArTT. For instance:

  • A comparable course at the Open University in the UK could cost as much as $14,084 CDN (£7,860).

NOTE: OU courses were chosen to build a course comparable to our Advanced Accounting & Business Management diploma program at $9,975 CDN, or £5,613. Courses comparable to our digital arts programs are simply not available at OU.

  • A 4-year Arts program at the University of Alberta, assuming you live near by, will cost $21,410 - plus transportation (£11,988).
  • If you live on-campus, it will cost $47,356 (£26,521).
  • If you're living on-campus and are from a foreign country, it will cost $88,216 (£49,405).
  • A 4-year Science program at Acadia University can cost as much as $99,449 (£56,680).

Compare that to our average tuition of only $8,777 (£4,914) for your entire education.

Finally, there are no hidden fees at DArTT. The tuition price you see is the tuition price you pay, unlike universities which have hidden costs such as books, transportation, and registration fees.

Sometimes, exemptions and discounts are also possible. Talk to your recruiter!

If you're concerned about the tuition fees, remember that financial assistance is available; in the UK as well.

All tuition prices are in Canadian dollars.

Note: UK prices are approximated via the exchange rate as of March 19, 2009. Your actual tuition will be calculated via the exchange rate when you register, based on the Canadian prices below.

Refunds & Withdrawal Policy

If you withdraw during the early part of a full-time program, you may be eligible for a refund of a portion of your tuition based on the Nova Scotia Department of Education Tuition Refund Agreement (“Schedule A”), a copy of which can be found here.

NOTE: This applies only if Centre for Distance Education receives a written notice of withdrawal from the student before the times indicated in the agreement.

No refund shall be issued until all equipment, software, and learning materials are returned, at the student’s expense, in their original packaging, and have been received by Centre for Distance Education. The equipment and materials must be in reasonable condition. Service charges for the use of the hardware, software, and learning materials, or for replacement of damaged equipment, may be applied.
